EN353 Chemical Composition
EN 353 carbon content is 0.20% max. EN353 comes under low carbon alloy steel. The manganese and chromium in EN353 are responsible for the hardness of the material. The P and S content is 0.05% max as excess content can harm the steel. Due to high carbon and manganese content, the material is relatively hard. Excess content of P and S can damage the quality of steel and can cause the alloys steel to break at low stresses. There is a high Chromium content of 0.750-1.250 % which adds additional yield and tensile on heat treatment. There is also a Molybdenum content of 0.080-0.150 %.
